A Good, Quiet Day
Britten had a quiet day. Apparently, Sunday is a little more relaxing day at the Hospital. It was fairly uneventful. I mean that in a good way. They increased the sedation slightly because they want to keep Elder Schenk unaggitated. There were no tests performed other than just the routine stuff. So, he was able to rest a little more and so were we. The neurologist said things are good. We are just waiting for the swelling to decrease. His lungs are slightly better but it takes time for the antibiotics to do their thing. We need to be patient and know that Heavenly Father will take care of things in his own due time. Karla and I have been so blessed. We have no doubts. We are so grateful for the calm assurance of the Holy Spirit that all will be well, and we must be full of faith, obedient and patient. We can't put into words how grateful we are for all the prayers and support. Pray for each other. We give thanks to Heavenly Father for a good, quiet day.

So glad to hear you all had a restful Sunday. We fasted again today with a specific purpose for Britten and your family. Our closing hymn in sacrament meeting today was "God Be WIth You Til We Meet Again" and we had a great fast and testimony meeting. It was great to feel the spirit of the Holy ghost witnessing truth. No matter where we are in the world, the church is true, and the church is the same no matter where we are. It's comforting to know that you are being watched over and loved by members of the church in Brazil. We love you and we look forward to the time we will be able to be together again. Until then, we continue to send our love, prayers, faith and hope to you all. Thank you for your uplifting and informative posts. We anxiously wait to hear from you each and every day. WE LOVE YOU ALL!!!!

We were in Boise today at the baby blessing of our granddaughter Sophie (our son Jeff and Kallie's daughter). We met two people at church that are connected to you -- a cousin of Steffani (Nic) and a cousin of Brittan's mission companion. We are ALL praying for you and are so happy to read on the great progress!

Dear Steve and Karla, This is your cousin Barbara Hubbard Hansen, and my husband and I want to let you know we are praying for Britten and your family too. We just returned from the Philippines after serving there as mission president and wife and can testify of the love and concern the Lord and the mission presidency have for your son and all missionaries. He is aware of Britten and will continue to comfort and bless you throughout the healing process. You are not ordinary people! You have a strength that comes from faith in Jesus Christ and a testimony of his gospel. Your faithful examples are already a blessing to many who have trials. We love you and our hugs extend across the globe to you. Hope you can feel them! Love Barb and Parke
ReplyDeleteMy family is also praying for your son. We are so glad to hear he is doing better. It's amazing to see the blessings of fasting and prayer. We are so honored to do so for this incredible young man. Thank you for your unwavering trust in the Lord and the beautiful messages that are posted. We will continue our commitment to pray and fast not only for continued "good days", but a lifetime of "GREAT DAYS".

I'm glad you could get a little rest today. I'm sure you both need it. I hope you get more sleep tonight. I had several people tell me in church today that they are praying for Britten and asked how he is doing. There are so many people that care. Good luck to Karla on Tuesday. We love you all, and pray for another good day!

Aloha! When I saw and read this news, my heart goes to your family and moreso to Elder Schenk. I shed tears because I will be presiding a mission this summer. I have developed more love to all our missionaries around the world. Elder Schenk, you will always be in our prayers. We love you!
ReplyDeleteI only heard of Britten and his accident today, and came to your blog. My heart is so full of love for this boy I do not know. My son has been serving in the Sao Paulo North Misson the past 21 months, and so my heart is so drawn out to you and your family. I will be praying for him and for you constantly. Your faith is an inspiration to me, and I know that Elder Schenk and you will continue to see blessings and miracles as he recovers.
ReplyDeleteLove, Amy Garner
My mom just sent this to me and brought tears to my eyes. My prayers are with him and I hope all goes well for a servant of the Lord. He is an inspiration to me even though I do not know him. This will help me keep my focus on the gospel more over here in Saudi Arabia. My prayers are with him.

Everytime I hear news about your son my heart is filled w/ joy and gratitude. It´s been a learning experience for us too - outsiders that have been reading your testimony in action day by day. I´ve already seen many miracles in Elder Schenk´s recovery process and I am sure there are so many more tender blessings in store for you guys! Keep it up! And we´ll keep praying!

We fasted for your family here in Illinois as well. Many in our ward, and some of my friends belonging to other Christian faiths, are aware of Britten and are praying for you too. It's so good to see all the posts from our Idaho friends who we love and miss so dearly. It's comforting to know we are all united in our love for Britten and your family even though we are far apart.

I wish you could have been in Sacrament Meeting yesterday. About a dozen children got up to bear their testimonies and said they knew Elder Schenk would get better. One little boy (maybe 3 or 4)said (with the help of his father) that he wanted to be a missionary just like Elder Schenk. It was so touching. We want you to know you are in our thoughts and prayers.

ReplyDeleteSteve & Karla, we add our faith and prayers on your behalf to all the others. May you be comforted and strengthened as you wait on the Lord. and guided as you advocate for your son's best care.
ReplyDeleteAll our love,
Chris & Kris Fasy
My love and prayers go out to you. It sounds like Elder Schenk has great support from family, extended family of missionaries, loved ones, church members, Brazilians, Americans, non church members, and me.
ReplyDeleteMay he continue to progress each day.
Steve and Karla, you both know that are prayers are with you and your family at this time. You are some of the choice spirits that our father in heaven has sent to teach all of us how to be understanding of other and great parents. You sons are doing great and I have had a chance to talk to Cannon a couple of times. His counselor at Mountain Crest is aware of what is going on in his life too.He informed me that he would contact his teachers and let them know about Britten. I hope that was not out of place letting him know about your family situation at this time. Don't worry about things here we'll take care of everything. As I said our prayers are with you and may we all look to our brother for comfort and peace of mind in whatever we are doing. Bless you both, Larry Petersen
ReplyDeleteHow comforting to know that you feel assured that all will be well and that you have no doubts. Thank you for buoying up my faith and hope. I pray you are all staying postive. Trudy
ReplyDeleteYou all have been incredible through all of this. If any family is strong enough to pull one of their loved ones through this, you guys are. We'll be keeping you in our prayers.

ReplyDeleteWe are so happy to hear of Brittens progress each day. You are such an example of faith to all of us. Thanks for your testimony of the Savior in each of your posts. We pray for Britten and you each day. Love Ivan, Deana, and Family
