I Am a Child of God
As we hold Britten's hand and sing, "I am a Child of God" it has a whole new meaning for us...I am a child of God, and He has sent me here, has given me an earthly home with parents kind and dear...I am a child of God, and so my needs are great...I am a child of God, rich blessings are in store...
Elder Schenk's needs are great and we have been richly blessed this day. Britten continues under light, intermittent sedation. He has a pneumonia which the Doctors are attending to. Our miracles today include: moving all 4 limbs when sedation is at a lower level. The therapist said, "Britt helped her move his left arm to his shoulder upon command." He was also taken off a couple of medications because they were no longer needed. Today, was another good day!
We feel so strengthened, humbled and grateful as we feel the support from SO many. It is amazing to us.
We are grateful to President and Sister Moriera and the Dr. Missionary couples for their constant love, support and care. We now know why Elder Schenk loves them so much.
We thank our Heavenly Father for All our "Rich Blessings".
All our love, The Schenk's

ReplyDeleteWe have been spending a lot of time on this blog, constantly checking for updates, but mostly just reading all of the comments. The support of anyone who knows Britten and the Schenk family just goes to show that we are the ones who are amazed. Amazed at the faith and absolute trust that you have in the Lord and how you have been able to show us all that through the posts on the blog. Amazed at the incredible missionary and person that Britten is. We feel like we have been strengthened too from all the miracles that we have seen happen as a result of your faith and the prayers of all those out there who are constantly thinking of Britten and all your family.
ReplyDeleteWe love you,

ReplyDeleteSteven and Karla,
ReplyDeleteIt is so great to hear of Britten's improvements. I am cheering for you that he is starting to move his limbs. A small but crucial step in his healing process. Each time we say the blessing on the food we pray for Britten and your family. Each night I help my 5 five year old say her prayers, she prays for Britten. Thanks for being such great examples of faith.

This is great news! I'm grateful for not only "parents kind and dear", but siblings too. Each time I read your comments, along with other family member's, I feel so close to the family. It is such a blessing to belong to a wonderful caring family. Thanks for sharing your testimony with us. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

Hi, I live in Salt Lake, but I am from Sao Jose dos Campos, which is part of Sao Paulo East Mission. I've heard about the accident through some brazilian friends who were inviting people to pray for your son.
ReplyDeleteI just wanted to let you know that many have been praying for him and your family. We all have been really touched by what happened.
Please feel free to contact me if there's anything I can do to help. I've worked in hospitals in Brazil as an interpreter and I know how hard it is to have a family member ill in a different country with a foreign language, sometimes there's so much to say or to understand, and it's not easy when we feel lost or far away from home. I am happy he is in this good hospital, may the Lord provide you with many angels to help with all that is needed at this moment!

ReplyDeleteI'm so moved by this blog and the faith, love and prayers that have joined together in Britt's behalf. I'm thankful for this great gospel and the knowledge we have of our Savior Jesus Christ and our Heavenly Father They know and love Britt. I know they hear and answer prayers and we are seeing those tender mercies. Thank you for letting us be part of this blog. Love ya, Lu Wana Hunt
Karla: This is Cindy (used to be Rupp). We were able to reconnect a few years ago when you recognized me as I was buying potatoes from you and I'm grateful for that. I didn't realize until now the many connections that we also share. I just thought you'd want to know that the Stake President, President Parent, out here in the Nibley Stake asked that all the wards include you son in their prayers. My son Travis recently returned from his mission and was speaking in another ward so I know that this was asked in other wards as well as our own and is being done. Our prayers are with your entire family at this time and we pray that he will keep having good days. I'll be keeping up on his progress through this blog. Please know that you're not alone in this. :)
Thomas S. Monson...
Dear Karla and Steve:
ReplyDeleteOh how I wish I were there holding Britten's hand--I love him as one of my own. So thankful you are there by his bedside holding him and giving him strength to pull through this. I pray that the power of God's love will permeate your entire being as you attend to Britten's every need. Hug him tight for me and tell him I think he is the most awesome of all!!! When I told my two missionary children about the accident, they were very upset. Landon said, "Britten is such a stud, I love that kid. I will pray and fast for him." Shalise said, "I just sat at the computer and cried--he is such an awesome kid. I will pray for him." Britten is an amazing young man and we adore him. We pray for more miracles every day. We love you, Trudy, Gerald, Shalise, Landon, Kiera and Savannah Knight.
Thank you so much for the daily updates. We pray for all the missionaries everywhere, but we have been especially praying for your family and your son right now. I hope he heals quickly. I hope you feel the sustaining love of all the members of the church.
ReplyDeleteDear Schenk family,
ReplyDeleteI know Elder Schenk personally. I am from Belem Ward, where he was currently serving. He came home for lunch a few times and I am responsible for organizing the missionaries lunch schedule. Elder Schenk is very responsible and very caring with the missionary work. He speaks Portuguese really well, just like a "brazileirinho". We, from Belem ward, are sorry for what happened to him. I would like you to know that we are praying every day for him to recover soon. Since it happened, I was very worried, and always looking for news with the Relief Society president who relayed the news given by Pres. Moreira. I have been following your blog every day and we can see his progress. Thank you for sharing this information, so we can witness this miracle as well. I have great faith and hope that Elder Schenk'll pull through and go home as he came. I wish I could visit him in hospital. Karla and Steven, count on us for anything you need while you are in Sao Paulo. My phone number is 11-3542-8594.
