One Day at a Time

Elder Schenk's lungs are much better today. He's about got the pneumonia licked. Though unconscious he is trying to scratch itches, and doing a good job of it. Those miserable hic-ups were also around most of the day. We are being patient while waiting for Britten to "wake-up". "Wakeing-up and responding" must be more of a process than an event. We feel like we see glimpses of "wakening" but not consistently. For example, Britten only raised his arm for one of the sustaining votes during conference, not all of them. We are encouraged with each new day! We are so thankful to our Heavenly Father for the little things we are seeing each day. We know that everything is going to work out. We appreciate the faith, prayers and support of so many. All our love, Steven, Karla and Elder Schenk

  4. We love you, Schenks, and continue to pray for all of you. We're so grateful for the blessing of being able to watch conference, and are glad you had that blessing in the hospital! I was touched by the missionary choir today, and thought of Britt as I looked for familiar faces!

  5. Hi, good to know that he is getting better day by day! Today I was waiting to start the conference at the Conference Center and one man asked me where I was from... few minutes later I was talking with him and his wife about Elder Schenk, asking them for pray for him and for my surprise... they know who are the Schenk Family. He said Karla had cut his hair some time in ID :) and they was already praying for you! Edith Perkins, her family, and I, we are praying for you all. I don't know you personaly, I know just Pres. Moreira and his wife, but I cannot go to bed without take a look on here and pray for your family. The main word from the Conference today was FAITH! I am glad to see you all with a lot of FAITH and helping us to feel faith in our Heavenly Father! Have a awesome Conference Day this Sunday!

  7. Many of the conference talks are reminding me of your families situation. I'm so glad that things are progressing for the better. Karla, Is there any thing setup for people to donate money to your family. I have no idea of your needs but if there is something setup I would like to know how to contribute. I'm sure there have been many unforeseen expenses along this crazy journey of yours. I'm sure the people in your community are looking in on your family at home. I would like to help but don't know how, not even knowing your address to send a card. We are sending our prayers up for your family each day and checking each day for the news.

  10. As Elder Rasband stated this morning in General Conference, and I heartily agree, you are engaging in 'superhuman nuturing care'. I know that Britten knows you are there caring for and loving him. Britten's mighty and positive responses are certainly linked to that as well as all of the prayers and fasting that have taken place and Heavenly Father's miraculous healing power. I am appreciative of and amazed by your strength, your courage, your example, and your faith.
I love you all. Keep working hard, Britten! You can get stronger and better every single day. I am praying constantly - morning, midday, evening, and midnight - for that. God bless you.

  11. We were so touched by conference and shed many tears, especially through Elder Rasbands talk concerning the nurturing of others through trials. We thought of you...We know Britten is hearing the words of comfort and prayers being offered in his behalf and that he is drawing strength from everyone. We know Heavenly Father loves him and all of you and will continue to bless you. Amazing how, as the prophet said today, our priorities can be shifted quickly and we are all reminded of the things that REALLY matter. We are with you in heart, spirit and prayer. Hang on. 12.
