Winning the Battle

The report on Elder Schenk's condition today will sound a lot like the past couple of days. He is winning the battle with the pneumonia and his lungs are getting better. The doctors continue to be positive, especially with some of his movements showing finer motor skills. He remains unconscious but several times we felt like he responded to a question after a second or two, but not consistently. The poor kid had the hic-ups all day. We had a very enjoyable evening with several Senior Missionary couples. They took us out to eat and we so enjoyed their good company. We appreciate these wonderful Senior couples who have taken us in and fed us each night. We are so grateful for Elder & Sister Call and Elder & Sister Jones for taking care of our every need. They truly have been our ministering angels. Again, we thank each one of you for your faith and prayers. We thank our Heavenly Father for answering those prayers. We feel so blessed to have received and witnessed so many miracles. All our love, Steven & Karla and Elder Schenk

  1. Yea! Such nice news! Britten has always been a winner! Glad to know you are getting to eat and enjoy good company!
So many of our friends in our ward call and ask me what they can be doing to help you - along with their prayers - I'm wondering the same thing... Can we set up a financial account for Britten?
    Have a good night!

  2. I am a good friend of Heather (Straatman) Johnson and have been praying with hope and faith for you as well! Each day I check this blog to see updates and have been happy to hear of the improvements happening slowly but surely. It sounds like there is a long road ahead, but it also sounds like you have many many people across the world praying and fasting for a full recovery. Best wishes that all will be well! 8. Karla and Steven -- We are so happy to read each day and to hear of Britten's improvements. Small, maybe, but things are going in the right direction. Patience has often been one of our trials, too, and you are doing a great job. Please know that our hearts and prayers are with you every day. I see your boys around at Skyview and the Sport's Academy and they look good. I'm sure this is so difficult for them and they miss you terribly --- but there are many here watching out for them. We pray for your continued strength and that you will have comfort. I KNOW that is always available for us! Love you tons, Dawn and Royce Yorgason and family

  10. Tell Britten we love him and we are so proud of the great missionary work he has done. Now he is influencing even more people. I start crying every time I read through the comments here and on facebook; but I keep reading them because you can feel the spirit so strong with everyone's testimonies. Hope you are having a good day.
