Concerned
We were hoping for a good day today, but Britten continues to be nauseous. He has started running a fever and we have noticed some increase swelling. The Doctor ordered some blood work and a couple of different CT scans, trying to get to the source of the problem. We are concerned and appreciate all the prayers in His behalf. We received a package and letter today from a "new friend" in Washington DC. He read about Brittens accident in the Deseret News. He said that people from all around the world are praying for Elder Schenk, and feel like HE is their son. Our love and gratitude goes out to each one of you. To know of the love that you have for All of the Lords Missionaries and especially our son at this time is very heart warming. We are so grateful that Elder Schenk could be an Ambassador of Jesus Christ and serve the wonderful people in Brazil. All our love, Steven & Karla Schenk

We are sorry to hear about this new concern. We just got done putting Averi to bed and when she went down, she made sure to put Britten in her prayers, asking for him to get better. That 3 year old is one of many, many prayers going out each day and night. We know he will fight through this just like he has every other obstacle up to this point. We love you all very much.

I think most anyone who has been following your blog feels a kinship to you and Britten. Not only do we share in your concern, but also share in your faith that Heavenly Father is watching over Britten. We continue to plead daily with Heavenly Father to heal him and know many others are doing the same. Keep hanging in there!

After so much progress in such a short amount of time (relatively!) its sad to hear about setbacks, but we have faith that these hurdles will be overcome by the determined Britten. Much love and daily prayers to you!!!

I hope Britten fever and swelling get better. Will put his name on the SL. temple roll tommorow. He is like my adopted Son. My Son who just returned from Brazil a few months ago, I heard him talking in portoguese tonight to a family in his mission. And I thought of your Son and pray someday soon he will be able to talk to all the many friends he made over there.I heard a talk today in church and the speaker was mmentioning that prayers are said here, but on the other side of the vail are fully aware of what is going on and is praying also. Thank you for your dedication of keeping us updated on Britten recovery. Patti SLC.
ReplyDeleteHang in there...he's done so well and he will overcome this one too. We're praying for him and for you.

We continue, as well, to pray for your son, Britten. During what we can only imagine to be a most difficult time you have managed to share strength and faith with many. May this pass quickly and may Britten grow stronger every day. Love--Evan & Coleen Merrill, Medford, Oregon
Our dear Britten is in our hearts and prayers each and every day. So hard to see him have to fight through so many obstacles. And yet, in doing so, he continues to be a missionary of faith and courage who strengthens all of our testimonies. We are praying specifically for the doctors who work with Britten that they may know how to best help him and make him comfortable. And we pray for all of you that you may continue to have the strength to endure one day at a time. We love you all so much...The Stoddards

COMPARTO CON USTEDES UNA ESCRITURA QUE NOS HA LLENADO DE FUERZAS Y VALENTÍA EN MOMENTOS DIFÍCILES A MI FAMILIA, SE ENCUENTRA EN JOSUÉ 1:9 "Mira que te mando que te esfuerces y seas valiente; no temas ni desmayes, porque Jehová tu Dios estará contigo dondequiera que vayas".

Steven and Karla,
ReplyDeleteZan and I have been following your posts faithfully since we heard of your son Britten's accident. It has been very emotional for us because one year ago we were in the same place you are now. My sister was in a terrible car accident with very similar head injuries as Britten's and every time I read one of your posts it is like I am right there again. There are so many ups and downs especially when you GET to stop fighting to keep them alive to watching for every little sign of recovery. It seems like they take one step forward and two steps back. You are the middle of a very hard and strange time because it is so hard to understand what the brain is doing! For weeks we talked to Julie and she talked to us and we thought that she was awake but when we ask her now she does not remember any of it. It was many weeks after her first signs of being awake, to when she was really all the way awake. I have never experienced anything like that before. Very emotional!
If I could give you one word of advise it would be to stay positive and be patient for him and for yourselves because you will yet see many wonderful miracles!
This weekend I am going with my sister to Woman's Conference. She has made an almost complete recovery and I thank my Heavenly Father everyday that she is still with us! Continue to trust in Our Heavenly Father because that is where peace will be found! May he continue to bless you and your family!
Love Zan and Tamara Bowles
My son is currently serving in Brazil. I was heartsick when I heard about your son's accident and he and your family have been in my prayers ever since. I believe in miracles and believe that you are witnessing many miracles and will continue to witness them. I'm so sorry for this setback. Your family seems so strong and also so full of faith. May God bless you all as you continue on this journey.
