What a Day

Wow, what a day it has been! Elder Schenk was so active trying to sit up, and scratch his itches! He was itching all over and it was driving him nuts. At first he was bringing his leg up to his chest so he could scratch it. Then both legs. Then he started pulling the thigh- high compression socks off. He had all of us laughing. The nurses came in to see what we were laughing at. They were all cheering..Yeah, Britten! We are happy he is so active but it is about wearing us out trying to keep him under control so he doesn't hurt himself. He is still not responding to commands but we have faith that it will happen. It is amazing to see Heavenly Father's hand in every miracle. We are still just so amazed at all the prayers, support and love from so many! We will be eternally grateful. 1. That is so wonderful to hear. We know that be will continue to improve day by day. Conference was so good and we were also listening in a different way. So many words just seem to be for all our family. It was so amazing. Keep strong and devour the words from conference if you were able to listen. Thank you all so much for your inspiration to all. Many testimonies have been strengthened because of all of you.
Keep smiling, as we all are.
    We love you so much!!

  4. Thanks for all the updates! We are praying for Britten every day. Your positive attitudes and examples of faith truly bring tears to my eyes every time I think of you and your family. Let's be honest, though, I was built like Gma Schenk and my mom and my eyes are always a little leaky. Hugs and kisses to you all, we love you and cheer every time Britten makes progress!

  7. My gosh, it sounds like he is doing well, and it must be hard to watch and wait for him to awaken. Thank you for keeping us posted. We continue to pray for his recovery.

  8. These news are so wonderful to read! Thank you for taking time to write them for all of us to follow!
I followed my nephews recovery from his accident this past year. Elder Schenk's wake-up process sounds a lot like his! YEs, it usually is a process than an event. Who would have ever thought this past fall, that my nephew would today this April, run around getting his last things done before his wedding this May! I believe! I believe in Elder Schenk's full recovery...day by day...! All our love and prayers are with you all! Russ and Christina Hallam

  9. We all look up to your family for the faith that is held strong through tough times. We are so grateful for our leaders that spoke to us in General Conference. Our Father is aware of our problems and blesses us accordingly. I'm glad that you guys can see through everything and STILL count your blessings! We're praying for ALL of the family and especially Britt. Can't wait to play ball with him again :)

  11. I just wanted to take a minute and leave your sweet family a little note. My parents are currently serving as mission president and wife and my little brother and sister are serving full time missions as well none of which are state side. Your story hit very close to home for me. I have been awed by your wonderful examples of faith and your ability to trust in the Lord! Thank you for your examples and for your goodness. You have touched many hearts with your good attitudes and extreme faith in the midst of hard trials. Love, The Evans family
